Mushkilla picks tracks from MF DOOM, Wizkid and Jelani Blackman for his Repeat Playlist.
Back off his latest single Indo, which straps pungent rhymes with smokey 808s, Mushkilla has provided us with an eclectic playlist of tunes.
Known primarily for his lyrical prowess, spraying hellaciously deep tones over sinister garage beats, the emcee has garnered radio support from the likes of Jamz Supernova and Tom Ravenscroft.
Usually, his sound leans towards the darker, pre-grime vibes of UKG, but Indo is inherently influenced by the contemporary energies of drill. The video sees him donning Arcte’ryx and back-strapped zoots in a range of dulcet landscapes, across his hometown of Bristol.
The West Country has produced a wealth of lyrical talent over the years, particularly in regards to trip-hop, and Mushkilla looks set to be one of the latest to break from the region.
UKG has experienced an upsurge in interest from producers recently, thanks in part to Bristolian label Shall Not Fade. On his new single however, Mushkilla proves that his bars work over an array of genres, showing an unwillingness to be defined by a single sonic.
Listen to the emcee’s selection below and stay locked for more info on his forthcoming EP 'Not Another Garage M.C.'
