REPEAT ROUNDUP 15/09/2022: NEWS ON SUPREME, SKEPTA, SAINTÉ AND MORE

Trees are shedding their leaves and tastemakers in art, fashion and music circles are starting to redefine themselves. Skepta is becoming more polymathic by the minute, Supreme and Palace are saving themselves with great collaborations and Vigro Deep continues to release faultless ama piano heaters. Elsewhere, Dexter, Sainte and Shanti Celeste all have new music. Find out what happened in the world this week below.

Reigning Supreme: streetwear stalwarts show gorpcore remains king with latest Nike collaboration

Continuing their ongoing alliance, Supreme and Nike came together for an ACG capsule release on Thursday. Denim and fleece pullovers will grab all the headlines, and rightfully so. However, the collection also champions snake-skin patterned shorts, caps and a range of fluorescent long sleeve tees. Below are some of our favourite pieces.

Skepta Tears: Skepta and Tremaine Emory birth new collaborative collection

Fresh from his ‘Mama Goes to Market’ auction, which saw a one-of-one painting go for £81,900, Skepta has released a collection with Denim Tears. The pieces spotlight the artwork but also explore the African diaspora that Emory often references in his own work. It’s a collaboration that just makes sense.

Dexter is ‘Vexed’ on their latest single

Jungle, UKG and every microgenre of the above are beginning to dominate the tastes of TikTok teens across the country. Following the summery garage anthem ‘Something Real’, Dexter returned to the airwaves on Thursday with ‘Vexed’, which indulges in faster breakbeat tempos.

Sainté surprises fans with another stellar single

Titled 'Sade', Sainté's latest single is one of the most infectious in his discography. Referencing everyone from Carti to Kanye, the track explores the rapper's lifestyle through various metaphors - the most prominent being his allusion to 'Sade' on the hook. Sainté has always radiated a different energy to fellow wordsmiths and this single is no different.

Palace and Engineered Garments combine for a new capsule collection

Palace needed some new collaborations to freshen up their image, so this one with Engineered Garments couldn’t have come at a better time. Reveling in simplicity, the pieces swap loud branding for earthy colours and premium cuts. It’s the first time Engineered Garments have forayed into Gore-Tex too. We are hoping Palace pulls off more collaborations like this in the future.

Obongayar’s ‘Sugar’ gets the Vigro Deep ama piano treatment

There aren’t many artists who can boast of the 2022 Vigro Deep’s had. The ama piano poster boy has DJd across the world and remixed year-defining tunes like ‘Sad Girlz Love Money’. His latest flip comes for Nigerian-English vocalist Obongjayar, who released his debut album earlier this year.

Shanti Celeste is the latest multifaceted DJ/producer to release for Hessle Audio

Is there a festival Shanti Celeste didn’t play this summer? The DJ’s wonky house selections have been heard in every corner of Europe over the past three months. Refusing to ease up, she’s just dropped a new single on Hessle Audio. It features one of the most infectious melodies we’ve heard in a while.

Burberry reschedule London fashion week appearance for the 26th of September

London fashion week has seen major disruptions since the Queen’s death, including Burberry and Raf Simons runway postponements. Thankfully, England’s most famous fashion house isn’t pulling out completely, as they’ve rescheduled for next Sunday, 26 September.
