REPEAT'S RAVE OF THE MONTH - Lakota Wide Eyes - Clipz / DJ Zinc (Jungle Set)

A Friday night down in the southern city of Bristol can only mean one thing... A stinking Wide Eyes DnB rave at the infamous Lakota club. This weekend the team over at Wide Eyes had out done themselves, with an outrageous line up of 175 pioneers in the calibre of Clipz and DJ Zinc. Kicking off the night with a couple smaller sets Plum & CRL went B2B; the Wide Eyes resident well and truly set the pace for the later scheduled shenanigans. Next up was the well known DnB daddy, Mr Jumping Jack Frost. Bringing the purest selection of drums, dropping banger after banger, the pioneer left the crowd in a state of pure gas as the Lakota sound system wobbled their insides.

As the night ticked, ravers waited eagerly for the return of the old school bad boy Clipz. The Bristol born DJ has been out of action for the best part of 10 years! However, the man is back and bringing the heat with his new record “Down 4” which has been absolutely tearing raves around the U.K. When the clock hit 1, all the skankers stumbled into the main room ready for the bass titan. To everyones pleasure, the man did not hold back. As he cooly stood behind the CDJs spinning his signature wobbly sound, I had to ask myself if I had ever seen anything quite like it, as the man curated the perfect 60 minute set of mass shellingtons.

High on fumes of excitement, I refused to leave the dance floor as my mates went back and forth for the occasional fag. There was absolutely no chance I was missing a single second of the set. As the final 5 minutes arrived Clipz hopped on the mic to announce he was going to play some unreleased specials, which did not disappoint. Once again the fella worked his magic as he dropped a disgusting Skepta Praise The Lord bootleg, it quite frankly f**** me sideways. MAD PROPS TO CLIPZ!

After a perfect set from the master himself, I thought the mood in the main room would chill. Zinc's jungle set had other ideas. Cooly taking the stage, the 47yr old reinforced his presence in the DnB scene with a bouncy selection of tracks - keeping the energy going through the rest of the night. All in all, Wide Eyes absolutely smashed it with this one. I’m very much looking forward to the next event. Mad props to all the DJs.
