VIDEO OF THE WEEK: LOUIS CULTURE FT BAWO - 7AM

Louis Culture, the South London talent making waves in the UK alternative Hip Hop scene delivers our video of the week, teaming up with West London wordsmith Bawo.

It’s the first we’ve heard from him since his trippy, snappy ‘Naked’ single in 2021. The underground emcee continues to show why he’s up next with this particularly creative and continuously shot music video.

The video begins with trains passing by graffiti and smashed glass, developing the atmosphere for the scene which shows the two lyricists walking alongside each other, sharing stories through their verses.

Louis kicks off with the hook - ‘7am bet this shit keep me up, night missions got your boy waiting on a prius’, making reference to the fact hybrid cars make a lot less noise, and are thus far less likely to attract any unwanted attention from the police.

The meditative, yet rattling beat is produced by YAMO//SATO and IDHEM. It’s melancholic, but also has the simplicity of early Grime instrumentals in its DNA.

The track continues with his smooth storytelling over a clean piano loop. Bars like ‘And your old shit way better than your deluxe’ see Louis taking aim at rappers releasing 20+ song albums alongside deluxe editions to boost streams and sales, choosing quantity over quality.

Bawo comes in with an equally effortless and nonchalant verse, as well as some tight flows, and catchy lines like ‘06:52, already hit me a lick let’s move'. Their chemistry shines through both the music and visuals, which you can check out below.
