In the week Liz Truss packed her bags and handed over the country’s keys to the ultra-rich Rishi Sunak, we have plenty of music and clothing releases to enlighten you on. From the West Afrikan rhythms of DIVINEANGEL to remixes by Joy Orbison and drops by Mancunian brand Donk Wear to a weekend release from Guiste Original, swipe across to get all the news you need from this week.
SKEPTA X PUMA IS NEARLY HERE
The wait is finally over for Skepta’s line with PUMA. Although a release date is yet to be confirmed, the grime legend has further teased his PUMA “RS-X” collaboration with a reel posted to Instagram. Technical tracksuits are all the rave, as are the visuals, which you can watch below.
GUISTE ORIGINAL TO DROP THEIR LATEST T-SHIRT ON SUNDAY
Bristol-based events and garms crew Guiste Original will be releasing their most recent t-shirt this Sunday. With a glasswork design on the front and back, the piece is completely rave-ready, and if you’re strapped for cash at the moment, there’s a giveaway competition currently running on their socials.
PLACES PLUS FACES RELEASE HALLOWEEN-THEMED CAPSULE
Following their “cozy drops”, Places Plus Faces are back with a halloween-themed capsule. Featuring a range of t-shirts, hoodies and varsity jackets, the collection is modeled by British creatives such as Kelvin Krash and models like Chloe Christian.
NOKIA MANSION DEBUT NEW TRACK TITLED "GNARLY"
“Gnarly” is the next piece of Nokia Mansion’s EP puzzle, joining three recent singles that are beginning to assemble a more substantial body of work. Combining grime synths with a buzzing bassline, the track revels in Bador and Sly Fieri’s juxtaposing deliveries. It's a fitting introduction to their digital trap sound, which sits completely in its own lane.
JOY ORBISON REMIXES JORJA SMITH'S "ROSE ROUGE"
Joy Orbison is back with a remix of Jorja Smith’s 2020 single “Rose Rouge”. In his own words, the DJ says “this remix reminds me of my earlier work - but maybe a more realised take on what I was trying to do back then.”. Filled with assured house shuffles and funky skips, the track is ready for the winter dancefloor.
DOWNTOWN KAYOTO IS BACK WITH "IN2YOU"
Layering his indie prowess over garage rhythms, “In2you” marks the return of Downtown Kayoto. “Thankyou for being patient with me” he recently wrote on an Instagram post; fans have had to wait a while but it’s all seemed worthwhile with the release of this single. Hopefully, it’s a sign of more to come in 2022.
DIVINEANGEL'S DEBUT SINGLE RECEIVES A REMIX PACKAGE
From Jkarri to IZCO and Neue Grafik to Holmesly More Life, DIVINEANGEL have blessed their debut single with a star-studded remix package. Picking a favourite is difficult, but in a life-or-death situation, Jkarri’s rework would take our top spot. Shuffling the West Afrikan rhythms towards a more dance floor-purposed tempo, the track is an energetic alternative to a delightfully soulful single.
DONK WEAR DROP "CLOWN HOODIES"
For fans of sustainable clothing, Donk Wear should be right on your radar. The Mancunian brand shit on the status quo with their rave-inspired style, and after a slew of releases throughout 2022, they’re back with “the clown hoodie”. The design is minimal in comparison to previous releases but one that shouldn’t be slept on.
